
Andrew has worked in the quality management and process improvement arena for over 12 years.
During a 32 year career in the UK Civil Service (with H M Customs and Excise, Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Food, and Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs), he held a variety of management roles ranging from operations, quality development, and internal communications to business planning and contract management. He pioneered use of the EFQM Excellence model in HM Customs, and managed their Business Excellence self-assessment programmes at regional and national level, taking a lead role in the setting up of facilitator networks to embed the principles of business improvement.
He specialises in the use of quality management frameworks and processes to improve organisational improvement. He has also acted as a consultant for the UK Cabinet Office advising other Government Departments at home and overseas on use of EFQM. Recently, Andrew has worked with the Cabinet Office and one of their approved certification bodies, designing and delivering training for the new Customer Service Excellence Standard.
As well as his EFQM experience, he also has wide experience as an Investors in People (IIP) assessor, as a reviewer for the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) Gateway Review process, and is also trained and experienced in Business Process Re-engineering (BPR), Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) and Benchmarking.
Andrew has been an assessor and senior assessor for the UK Business Excellence Award programme on a number of occasions, gaining valuable knowledge of organisations in the private and voluntary sectors.
