Business Continuity Management

Fire, Flood, Product Recall, Terrorist Bomb,

How will your business or your reputation survive a major incident?

Business Continuity is all about Crisis Management, Incident Planning and preparing for Business Recovery.

In the words of the new Code of Practice for Business Continuity Management, BS 25999 “BCM provides the capability to adequately react to operational disruptions while protecting welfare and safety”.

Every business, now matter how large or small, needs to consider how it would survive if something unexpected happened. Imagine that you suddenly find that you cannot get to your premises, where are all your customer, client or supplier records? How will you fulfil that urgent order?

Equally damaging could be the risk to your reputation from a misguided employee making a poor decision or one of your employees being injured.

With the correct approach all may not be lost and you may even turn a crisis into an opportunity and enhance your reputation and future business.

Planning is the key. It may never happen but if it does the simple fact of having thought through how you would deal with a situation and then recover your business will save you a lot of time and stress.

The new Code of Practice will not solve all your problems on its own but with the right approach it can provide a framework that will help you plan for the worst.
